With a purse of over $30,000 to the riders, a win in Hobbs gives the athletes what they need early in the season, money and momentum, the two most important factors in building a successful season.
“Today’s bull riders know It pays to come to Hobbs,” said Hedeman who owns and produces the annual bull riding.
Hedeman, known as the pioneer of the sport of stand-alone bull riding, continues to develop and support the next generation of bull riders, and stock contractors while entertaining the fans for over 25 years.
“This weekend’s purse will kick off and fund the cowboy’s rodeo season giving them money to travel and pay entry fees to their next event while pursuing their dreams,” commented Hedeman.
“New Mexico is a big part of my personal history, and the people here supported me during my career and I enjoy keeping the bull riding tradition going and bringing a family friendly event to the people of New Mexico,” continued Hedeman who honed his craft as a youth attending junior rodeos in New Mexico.
Former PBR, NFR, and Bullfighters Only champion Bryce Redo (Houston, TX) and Professional bullfighter, Brody Smith, (Weatherford, TX) will be saving lives on the dirt in front of the chutes. Hedeman personally selects both to assure the rider’s safety in Hobbs as they dismount and get clear of the bull and the arena. They work all fifty “outs” and remain in the arena for the entire duration of the show protecting all personnel on the dirt.
Everybody’s favorite funny man JJ Harrison will return to entertain you and narrate his version of the action on the dirt!
